On March 4th, there will be a new season of the Proximus Cycling Challenge opened by the Ename Classic. This cycling route provides a combination of challenging bike rides, with difficult climbs, and smooth transitions and you get to experience the most landscapes of Oudenaarde along the way. There are four routes to choose from, 69 km, 87 km, 117 km or 148 km, this is the perfect cycling challenge for those who have trained hard looking for a test and for those who need to wake up from their cycling hibernation. Tour of Flanders
The most prestigious 5 monuments of cycling, the Tour Of Flanders is the ultimate cycling challenge for everyone. These routes take place on Sunday, April 2nd Watch the Pros tackle the same roads on Sunday in the 2023 Tour of Flanders. On Friday and Saturday, the event holds an amateur event named ‘We Ride Flanders’, you can step into the footsteps of the pros and tackle routes with steep climbs, and cobbled streets, and enjoy the picturesque through the Flemish countryside. You will have the selection of 4 different distances, 75km, 144km, 177km or 249km. Last year, the longest distance (249km) starts from Bruges and finishes in Oudenaarde. However, the above distances will start and finish in Oudenaarde.
Retro Ronde van Vlaanderen
A vibrant and colour cycling event, the Retro Ronde van Vlaanderen, is a fun and colour experience where riders from all across Europe where vintage and retro clothing and ride classic bikes. This is not a competitor, it is simply a fun and leisurely Sunday ride. You can select several routes from 40, 75, 100 or 160 km while admiring the landscape of the Flemish Ardennes. Your bike should be from before 1987 or vintage styled, as well as your clothing. During your cycle, you can stop in some of the scenic locations along the way and refuel at the local food and drink refreshment stations. A great opportunity to meet fellow cyclist enthusiasts as well as explore the beautiful Flanders location. Grab your old bicycle, come on over to Oudenaarde and make memories. This event takes place on June 6th 2023.
